Soyuz-Apollo. The force of gravity
65th anniversary of the first human space flight, Russia, 50 min., 12+
This documentary explores the legendary "handshake in space"—the docking of the Soviet and American Soyuz 19 and Apollo spacecraft in low Earth orbit in 1975. The event took place at the height of the Cold War between the USSR and the United States. This unique international project represented a significant step toward mutual understanding between the two nuclear powers, and the friendly handshake between crew captains Alexei Leonov and Thomas Stafford in space inspired hope for a warmer political climate on Earth.
